Inauguration of St. Thomas Mission School

Bettiah 7th April 2018, Bettiah

It is a Historical event in the pages of St. Thomas Mission English Medium School. Many of them like to know about the institution and to be partners, collaborators and well wishers of this Institution. It belongs to Diocese of Bettiah and comes under Bettiah Parish Society. St. Thomas English Medium Mission School is the dream of our beloved Bishop Peter Sebastian Goveas, Bishop of Bettiah and the President of the institution. Under his patronage we have begun this school. It is also ‘felt need’ of so many. Many have been requesting us to start English medium school to meet the growing educational needs of the area. St. Thomas School aims at the holistic and integrated development of every student in all the dimensions of growth.

Our mission is Education of quality and relevance to all, and in particular to the marginalized section of society. We lead students into sacred space of the human person and making them aware of their inalienable sacredness, dignity, character and human rights. We try to promote education that humanizes and contextualizes by assisting them to raise essential questions concerning meaning of life, enable them to consciously contribute for common good. Thus, they take up the task of national building to evolve a new inclusive Indian society which they can own with pride and joy. They are formed to become good human person, responsible citizens with distinct character, competence, caliber, conscience, compassion and commitment. We articulate a curriculum to maintain conducive environment, environmental hygiene, and good social manners.

The staff, students and parents are called upon to actively own the vision, mission and policy of the institution, be committed to its goals and look at the institutions as their own. In the changed and rapid changing scenario, good habits of work ethic are inculcated both among the staff and students as mandates for life, and effective living. We promote harmony and spirit of common brotherhood amongst all the people based on the Constitution of India. We also educate students and staff to accept and respect differences based on religion, culture or caste or any other. We are also evolving good monitoring mechanism to get parents and students’ feedback, suggestions in order to improve our effectiveness and efficiency in our service. We also foster good public relations with civil and public authorities for greater effectiveness of our service. Thus, we shall contribute to develop inclusive fraternal society which is an alternative to extreme individualistic and exclusive society. I would like to make a concluding remark that we all should aim not only competence, intellectual excellence and individual success, but enable each student to contribute to the wellness of society, i.e. wellness of all.
